The Museum

Established in 1985 by Esther Gordy Edwards, sister of Motown Record Company founder, Berry Gordy, the Motown Museum is committed to preserving Motowns’ great music and entrepreneurial legacy; and to educate and inspire people with lessons about the power of vision and creativity. Since its inception, the Motown Museum has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Southeastern Michigan attracting visitors from around the world.

Our Mission is to preserve the legacy of Motown Record Corportion and to build awareness of the global impact of Motown and its artistic contributions to popular culture.
